Hibben Knives offers knifemaking classes in the shop in LaGrange, Kentucky USA. Classes may be taken at the Introductory, Intermediate or Advanced level depending on the experience of the student. At the introductory level, Gil will personally take you through all of the steps to make your own handmade custom creation including design, profiling, grinding, heat treating, assembly, finishing, sharpening and even making a custom fitted sheath. You will come away with a wealth of knowledge gleaned from Gil’s 60 years of experience as a knifemaker and a finished custom knife to cherish forever.

Classes are five consecutive days, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM each day. There are numerous hotels and restaurants a short distance from the shop to accommodate your visit to LaGrange, Kentucky. For those who are flying in, LaGrange is only 30 minutes from Louisville, Kentucky and Louisville International Airport. Full details will be provided when you sign up for a class.

Gil Hibben will be assisted in teaching his classes by his sons Wes and Derek Hibben, each accomplished craftsmen in their own right. 

Classes are limited to only three students per class to ensure that each student receives a lot of personal one-on-one instruction. Be sure to sign up early as the available spots fill up quickly. 

The full price per student per class is $1950.00 if making one knife, plus $450 for a smaller second knife. Only three spots are available for each class.

A non-refundable deposit of $250.00 is required to reserve your spot in a class. The balance is due on the first day of your class.
