Learn to make knives with master knifemaker Gil Hibben in his own shop in LaGrange, KY with his son Wesley, who has been making knives with Gil since he was 8 years old and his son Derek who has taken sheath making to a new Hibben level.
In this comprehensive 5-day class, you will receive the Hibben’s personal one-on-one instruction to make one complete knife, including a leather sheath, from start to finish and the knife is yours to keep and treasure always!

Tap into The Hibben’s vast knowledge of metalsmithing and knifemaking, making beautiful and functional hand-made knives that are sought by collectors all over the world, since 1956. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to learn from the master!
You will LEAVE WITH with a unique, one-of-a-kind knife and the knowledge and experience that only Gil Hibben can provide.
The classes will be limited to only FOUR students per session, which will allow for a lot of individual attention. The classes will be held for five consecutive days, Monday-Friday, from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm in the Hibben Knives shop in LaGrange, KY. We will take you through the entire knife making process which includes design, operating a metal cutting band saw, grinding, heat treating, polishing, making the guard and pommel, shaping handles, and finishing with making a sheath and final sharpening. On Monday evening there will be a reception dinner at the Hibben home where we can relax and get to know each other.
LaGrange is approximately 22 miles from downtown Louisville, Kentucky. There are many motels within five minutes of the shop, and they are very reasonably priced. Click HERE for locations of area hotels. There are also several Restaurants in the same area.
The fee for attending the five-day class is $1500, which includes most materials and one (1) completed knife.
If you wish to make two knives, there is an additional minimum charge of $450 for the second knife (could be more depending on the complexity of the second knife).
I can assure you that you will leave here having made a knife that you will be proud of.
You must be 18 years or older to attend the class.
A non-refundable deposit of $250 is due upon registration. The balance is due on the first day of class.
